If you've read this column before, you're familiar with how once every several issues or so, we come across a particular spirit or concoction of spirits that is not only pleasing to the palate, but can be downright sneaky in the way the flavors mask the potent alcohol content.

These dangerous drinks taste so good that once they hit the lips, you find yourself knockin' 'em back quicker than normal, and soon you're somewhere between two and three sheets.

Most of these recipes require a good amount of mixers, some sweet juices and maybe a garnish or two for the guise to work. But one bottle of hooch we came across last week takes the cake. In fact, we'd go as far as to say "Danger" is Jeremiah Weed's middle name.

We stopped by Cochran Liquors in Middletown for a sampling of the stuff, where we met with Tripp Baum, of United Distributors, and J.J. and Krishna Patel, owners of the store.

Jeremiah "Danger" Weed

Those of you familiar with the Jeremiah Weed line of spirits probably had your first run-in with the southern gentleman in college, as most of their traditional spirits are priced moderately for the average poor student to afford. (Think Popov vodka and Admiral Nelson rum.)

Now, you may have moved on to more worldly vodkas and gins since your collegiate nights spend pounding shots and shot-gunning beers, but prepare to make some room on your grown up liquor shelf, because the Weed is back.

Their newest product, released late February of this year, is the Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea Vodka. This southern style sweet tea-flavored vodka not only rings in at 70 proof, but has that dangerous ability to mask itself with water or lemonade and really have an impact on your evening.

The spirit pours thick, and its sugary base might be too much for some. But mixing it 60/40 with lemonade or water (garnished with a lemon) is the way to go.

Check out the simple recipes we got from the makers of Jeremiah Weed spirits, which mix the Weed mostly with water and lemonade. But give this guy a try when you're considering a Long Island Iced Tea, in place of your normal vodka, and easing up on the Coke.

Scoring some weed

Though still in the early stages of marketing and promotions, Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea Vodka is available almost all over the state of Delaware. You can expect to pay an average of $19.99 for a 750 ML bottle, or $29.99 for a 1.75 L bottle. Here's a list of where you can get your hands on some Weed.
