For most people, the older you get, the less you look forward to your birthday. But Spark magazine looks forward to the big day each year, because the party that comes with it usually kicks some serious tail.

This year will be no exception to that fantastic rule, as we're taking over the stately steakhouse that is C.W. Harborside, and making it our own with decorations, live music, goodies, DJ Bis, and of course, scrumptious cocktails.

After taking a look at the booze they had to work with for this year's birthday bash, the brains at C.W. came up with a few concoctions that should keep the V.I.P. and after-10 p.m. crowd happy throughout the evening.

We stopped in earlier last week for a glimpse and a sip of what they came up with, and there are plenty of options for all types of drinkers. From sweet to sour, vodka to rum, beer to wine, we gonna party like it's 2009.

Spark-A-Rita

Here we have your traditional tequila drink, with a not-so-standard additive, melon liqueur. For those who don't particularly care for the taste of tequila (but like the effect), here is a nice way to get it down and get revved up.

Captain on Coke

Yikes. Talk about getting revved up. When we first heard the idea of cola-flavored Red Bull mixed with Captain Morgan, we could see ourselves bouncing off the walls all night.

However, turns out the mixer is a blend of cola and Red Bull, without all the caffeine you'd normally expect. There is just a touch of caffeine, courtesy of the coffee beans in the soda, though none of the coffee flavor.

This one is certainly an acquired taste, especially considering the fact that the Red Bull Cola also contains mustard seed, licorice, cardamom and clove. Proceed with caution.

Starree's Hot Apple Pie

Of course, those watching the door Friday night will be doing their best to get you inside quickly. But considering we're looking at a high of 38 that day, you're gonna be cold when you show up.

That being the case, make this Hot Apple Pie (courtesy of bartender Starree) your first cocktail of the evening. The soul-warming concoction of Captain Morgan, cinnamon schnapps and hot apple cider will get those tootsies ready for a spin on the dancefloor.

Green-Tinis

Since we're all environmentally conscious this year (and since so many of the ladies love their appletinis), this takes care of both with one fell swoop of a healthy dose of vodka and a smidgen of Sour Apple Pucker liqueur.

Blue Biden

Ah, yes. We must make a point to congratulate Delaware's native son Joe Biden (even though he's originally from Scranton), and what better way than to do it with a cocktail, which mixes vodka, blue curacao and pineapple juice.

Keep in mind this is probably the sweetest of all the drinks on the list, and more than a few might result in blue tongue. So if you're up for drinking a liquid bag of Skittles, this is your drink. Otherwise, one should be enough.

Justin's Black & White Russian

Another cocktail named after a C.W. bartender, this combo is a mix of Kahlua and vanilla liquer, with cream and a dollop of whipped cream with shaved cocoa on top.

Served on the rocks, it reminded me of an alcoholic black-and-white shake, with a creamy and frothy finish. Another sweet drink, one or two (preferably after the hors d'oeuvres have been served) will probably suffice.
