Biscuits for dessert
Next stop? The Bottle & Cork for a show that would feature the Disco Biscuits. The friend who turned me on to these jammers and their rock-trance-fusion about a decade ago just happened to catch a post about my extra tickets on Facebook, so he and a mutual friend of ours met in Dewey.
Having never been to a live Biscuit show, I wasn't sure what to expect out of the group from Philly, only knowing they'd shared stages with some revered local live acts, including G. Love, Kelly Bell and the venerable Ween (who'll be playing The Cork stage this July).
For those old enough to remember, the aura at the B&C was reminiscent of the old Deer Park in Newark, before the the renovations and smoking laws. Maybe it was because we were standing near the open-air portion of the bar, where smoking is allowed, or because the place was half-filled with hipsters and rockers coexisting peaceably. Perhaps it was the faint scent of patchouli.
Whatever the case, it took me back.
