Old 97's at The Cork

Then it was off to The Cork for the Old 97's show. I checked in with staff photog Jessica Bratton, who was up in the sound booth getting an aerial shot of the opener and the crowd below. (A word of advice, if you ever make it up the back stairs to the right of the entrance -- never touch the handrail. Not sure if the feeling was dried jelly or jam, but it was definitely sticky.)

The Texas foursome probably put on what some (myself included) considered the best show of summer 2008.

This time around, things were similar, but not quite the same. Though still a solid performance, the Old 97's lacked the pop of last year's Dewey show, possibly due to the fact that lead singer Rhett Miller played a number of his solo ditties as the opener.
