Mike the Headless Chicken Days

Where: Fruita, CO

Mike the Chicken was poised to become a delicious chicken dinner one fateful day in 1945. But when the butcher chopped the chicken's head off at just the right point in his neck, Mike survived for 18 months with only a body... and no head! (Yes, it's a true story.) To honor Mike's death-defying feat, the city of Fruita celebrates each year with (what else?) a 5k run, car shows, live music and people having so much fun they end up running around like... well, you know.
