This Saturday, The Joe Trainor Trio (Joe Trainor on piano, Kevin Niemi on bass and Michael Doroff on drums) will be hosting a CD release party at Deep Blue, where they'll be playing their brand spanking new album, "Drive," in its entirety. We caught up with Joe to ask him a few questions about the album and the show they've got planned.

What's the significance behind the title? "I took the rear view mirror photo while heading to Myrtle Beach for vacation and thought it was a really cool shot. When you're driving, you're facing forward, but looking back, and that's kind of like what writing music is all about. You're reflecting on the past and where you've been, but writing music with the idea of an album in the future. I thought 'Drive' summed that up best, while having the connotation of moving forward and being driven."

Our favorite track is probably "Dicking Me Around." Your piano skills are at the forefront and the title is, quite frankly, hilarious. "I don't want to get too specific on that one, because it's based on a previous relationship, but it's basically about how everyone gets dicked around in life, when you're uncertain of what direction things are going in, especially when it comes to relationships. The third verse pretty much sums it up: When will you find/You've gotta make up your mind/'Cause I'm going down/And all I really need from you is/to stop dicking me around."

What's the plan for Saturday? "There are gonna be a ton of musicians there. We'll get started around 8 p.m., with Liquid Assets, an acoustic duo, followed by Enuf Rope, a rock band, and then we'll play the whole album starting around 9 p.m. My brother Shawn (from Cubane) will play after that, and then it's kind of a reunion of old bands of mine from the '90s, followed by some fun covers at the end of the night. We'll have CDs for sale for $8. Should be fun."

For a taste, Joe recommends taking a listen to "The Rail" and "Can't Believe My Eyes" at MySpace.com/JoeTrainor.
