Spark Summer Music Series alum and local roots rock/reggae band Three Legged Fox released their second full-length album, "Not As Far," back in mid-March, and since than we've been listening with a close ear. Last week we caught up with rhythm guitarist and vocalist Kyle Wareham, to talk about the album, recorded at Philadelphonic Studios.

We're really digging the chilled out, feel-good vibe of this album. It definitely sounds really polished. "Yeah, we just aim for a good hook and good lyrics when we write our music, but a lot of people say it's got that fun, kind of summery feel to it. I think that's our reggae influence that makes the album feel like a summertime soundtrack."

You recorded at Philadelphonic Studios, home to G. Love & Special Sauce, with a slew of guest musicians. What was that experience like? "Awesome, really, just being in that studio. Chris DeBeneditto, who works closely with G. Love and Slightly Stoopid, produced for us and it sounds great. Mark Boice, G. Love's keyboardist, sat in for eight or nine tracks, O.G., of Slightly Stoopid and Jacob Hemphill of SOJA (out of Ocean City, Md.) also joined us, and the three horn players from John Brown's Body (out of Massachusetts) helped with their triadic horn sound. It was a collaborative effort and the work really shows on the album."

Where can we get the album? "It goes for about $10 at our live shows, on iTunes and CDBaby, and we're also looking for new members of our street team who can sign up for cool schwag through Reverb Nation on our MySpace page."

(Be sure and take a listen to "Gone," "Away" and "Maybe I'm Sorry" at www.myspace.com/threeleggedfox.)

Upcoming Gigs: Mojo 13 (May 28), The Note in West Chester (May 29) and Deer Park Tavern (June 11)

*If you want to be considered for the band bio feature, you must play original music, perform live in places other than your basement and have some recorded tracks readily available. Send your info to Rob Kalesse at rkalesse@sparkweekly.com.
