A world of hip hop in Delaware
Q-Tip, the iconic frontman for A Tribe Called Quest, once said that hip hop could never be a way of life, because it "can’t tell you how to raise a child or treat a wife."
While the latter portion of the statement might be true, hip hop is, in fact, a way of life for many, both globally and locally. Whether we're talking music, style or sense of self, hip hop is (as one local DJ put it) "something you live, and something you feel."
And that's how most residents in Delaware's hip hop community view the genre, both from a musical and stylistic standpoint, which we discovered while rapping with the artists on the local landscape.
