Old 97s

Old 97's, June 21 at the Theater of the Living Arts.
So many so-called "alt-country" bands that had their heyday back in the early 1990s (The Jayhawks, Whiskeytown [and Ryan Adams, ugh] and Uncle Tupelo and offspring Wilco and Son Volt) have either split or completely abandoned the artform of melding classic country with a modern rock edge.
Not the Old 97's.
They're still twangin' it away, as evidenced by their 2008 album "Blame It on Gravity," which boasts the Neil Young-esque shuffler "Color of a Lonely Heart Is Blue."
The June 21 show starts at 8 p.m. with solo sets by Old 97-ers Rhett Miller and Murry Hammond.
Tickets are $22 in advance and $25 on the day of the show.
