The Dude abides...as a singer-songwriter?
Jeff Bridges was so convincing playing a burned-out singer-songwriter in "Crazy Heart," he won an Oscar for his performance. So it comes as no real surprise that Bridges has announced that he'll be releasing his debut album as an actual singer-songwriter later this year. The album will come out on Blue Note Records, home to Norah Jones and Amos Lee, and will be produced by T-Bone Burnett, who has worked with the likes of Alison Krauss, Elvis Costello and the Coen Brothers on the "O Brother Where Art Thou?" soundtrack.
Bridges' leap from actor to recording artist makes a certain kind of sense—but he's the exception, not the rule. Here are Metromix’s picks for the 10 most random actors turned singers—the ones who, no matter how much musical talent they may possess (or not), still always make us go, “Wait a sec…that guy's singing?”—Andy Hermann, Metromix
