Best of Metromix Delaware: SUSHI RESTAURANT
What makes a good sushi restaurant? To us, fresh fish is a must, followed closely by excellently prepared rice with just the right amount of vinegar, sugar and salt, finally finished off with colorful and inventive presentation. That's what makes good sushi, and these five places have those three aspects down pat.
And the winner is…
Potstickers Asian Grill and Sushi Bar
1247 Churchmans Road
Newark, DE 19713You should know by now not to judge a Delaware restaurant by its strip mall cover. And Potstickers is a great example of that theory, nestled in a strip mall but filled with large surprises, like the palate and pupil-pleasing sushi rolls and the large statue of Buddah in the lobby.
the strip mall where it sits, that inside these doors is a trendy little Asian-fusion place with a decor filled with deep reds and a giant Buddha to greet you on the way in. Interesting drinks and apps make this a great pick for a better-than-average drink after work, but stay for the inventive sushi rolls and a menu that features Cantonese, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese dishes.
Nominees
Okura Japanese Cuisine Restaurant
703 Ace Memorial Drive
Hockessin, DE 19707Looking for heaven on rice? You'll find it at Okura, whether in their Hockessin Roll, filled with tuna and avocado, flash-fried and topped with Japanese mayo, or in their Eel Rainbow Roll, colorfully draped with tuna, salmon and yellowtail. And who cares if Hockessin is a bit of a trip? This place is totally worth it.
Mikimoto's Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar
1212 Washington St.
Wilmington, DE 19801For all the sushi-lovers out there, Chef Al Chu is sure to please your palate. As part of Wilmington restaurateur Darius Mansoory's trio of Washington Street restaurants, Mikimoto's has the best sushi anywhere downtown. And don't even get us started on those Oreo cheesecake spring rolls.
Jasmine Restaurant & Lounge
3618 Concord Pike
Wilmington, DE 19803Jasmine features inventive sushi rolls and city-style atmosphere, without the trek to Philly or New York. The more adventurous sushi-lover will get a kick out of their long roll list, while the reserved broccoli-with-chicken fan can get satisfaction, too.
Bamboo House
721 College Square
Newark, DE 19711Bamboo House is likely the Chinese Cheers of Delaware. Go once and they'll likely remember your name on the second visit. Which is good, because you'll certainly head back for their great sushi rolls, including the scrumptious shiitake mushroom roll.

Try Sushi Sumo on Kirkwood if you want good sushi at a great price. Used to go to Potstickers until we found this place. More bang for your buck!!
