Where can you find a bunch of sweaty fighters, a wise-cracking caveman and a mystical teen wizard? That's right—on your weekend TV line-up.
Friday, June 19
What: “The Late Show with David Letterman”
When: 11:30 p.m. ET/PT on CBS
Why: Poor David Letterman has been under a little of that good ol’ Alaska fire from Sarah Palin for some mishandled jokes he made on his show last week. An apology and a couple of protests later, the poor guy's just trying to get things back to normal. Tune in to see his interviews with Jada Pinkett Smith, caveman comedy "Year One” star Michael Cera and a performance by musical guest The Sounds.
Also on Friday: “Don’t Forget the Lyrics” at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX; “Surviving Suburbia” at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC; “The Goode Family” at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
Saturday, June 20
What: “The Ultimate Fighter”
When: 8 p.m. ET/PT on SPIKE
Why: It’s the finale of the ninth season of this televised fight club, with three big matches to wrap things up. Crowns will be handed out in Las Vegas, but it’s about more than that—bragging rights and egos are at stake when big-name fighters battle in the Octagon. The finale pits Clay Guida against Diego Sanchez, Kevin Burns against Chris Lytle and Nate Diaz against Joe Stevenson. Sometimes, sweaty, aggressive fighting is the best medicine for a slow Saturday night.
Also on Saturday: “Eli Stone” at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC; “Harper’s Island” at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CBS; “Kings” at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
Sunday, June 21
What: “Merlin”
When: 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC
Why: Before Harry Potter, there was Merlin—the first young wizard with magic powers and a huge chip on his shoulder. This fantasy drama takes us way back to when King Arthur and his wizard, Merlin, were just youngins running around the kingdom causing trouble. The premiere episode introduces us to the characters of Camelot, and we soon find out that Arthur and Merlin started off on the wrong foot.

Also on Sunday: “True Blood” at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO; “Gene Simmons Family Jewels” at 9 p.m. ET/PT on A&E.
